Honor the Legacy of Mike Fensler

All at the Michigan Military Heritage Museum were devastated to learn about the loss of our Board Member, Volunteer, Loyal Supporter and most of all, Friend Mike Fensler. Mike suffered a debilitating stroke four weeks ago and he passed peacefully not long after.
Mike has been with us from the beginning. He served as Museum President, Secretary, and a Trustee. He worked nearly every Sunday and at all of our events. He was a fixutre in Grass Lake for over 50 years and can never be replaced.
In working with his brother the past four weeks, we have learned even more about Mike. He supported many area charities, including our Museum, and those related to health and disaster relief. He never sought credit for his work and the true extent of his generosity is only now becoming known. He enjoyed working with kids at our Museum and was thrilled to see them show an interest in history, politics, and communications.
Mike's passion for the study of history was well known. The Museum board of directors, in collaboration with Mike's brother, has launched the Mike Fensler Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be open to Jackson County youth who wish to pursue studies in History. Students can attend any institution of higher learning. The amount of the scholarship will be a function of the amount raised, which is then placed into a permanent endowment, held by the Museum.
Please join the board and staff of the Michigan Military Heritage Museum and remember Mike's many contributions with a gift to the Mike Fensler Memorial Scholarship. Your generosity will propel and area youth seeking a college degree and enable Mike's legacy of service to carry on for many years.
Rest in peace, Mike. We thank you for the years of hard work, dedication, and most of all, for your friendship. You will always be remembered here at the Museum and will be missed.
